Hi, I'm Aveli from the Logbook of Great Things. I usually don't blog in English but this time I made an exception as this is kind of a special case ;) A few months ago Melissa from Fehr Trade announced the Spring Race Challenge. Every participant had to sew some sports gear and wear their creation to a freely chosen race. The challenge was announced right about the time I started getting really into sewing active wear so I literally jumped when I read that. And now, well, I've made myself some running clothes and I've participated some races so it's about time to show some proof :D
First, on 1. May I ran a 12km race - The 85th Grand Race Round Lake Viljandi - It's a really tough trail and it was my nineth time taking part. I was so happy that I managed to improve my personal best by 14 minutes - it took me 1.05.24 to complete the race (as someone pointed out - if I had ran just 10 seconds faster, my finishing time would have matched the date, but hey, I think that improving by 14 minutes was alredy a pretty good result this time, no need to cry about those 10 seconds :) ) As this spring and summer have already been and are assumingly going to be quite hectic, I wasn't sure I had an oppurtunity to run another race before the end of the challenge and so I really wanted to wear some of my own made garments, athough the weather was quite cold and I haven't actually sewn anything for the kind of conditions where there is only +4 degrees Celcius. Fourtunately I didn't realize it was that cold until there was a large clock with a thermometer on the 10th kilomeeter so it just felt a little chilly for a tank top at the start, but nothing unbearable and I still decided to wear my Lululemon inspired workout top (used my old sprts bra for making the pattern for the bra part and drafted a pattern myself for the shirt part) and navy shorts from an old Burda pattern (more pictures of the top and the shorts). I didn't get any good pictures from the race as I forgot to take a camera with me so a phone camera and a picture from a website have to do:

The other race I participated on 11. May was a 10 km trail run. It was also a race I improved my personal best at - it was the first time I ran 10 km under an hour and my exact result was 0:53:36. Yay! I wore the same navy shorts and a simple running top (pattern drafted from an old tank top, more pictures here):
So that's it! :) I've actually made some more sports gear this year and I've also taken part some more races, but another time, another story...

Omatehtud rõivad innustavad kiiremini jooksma :)
VastaKustutaTulemusi vaadates tundub nii küll, jah :) Kuigi eks sel hooajal on trenni ka kõvasti tehtud...
KustutaCongratulations on all your racing!!! What's interesting, I always read your blog but just have Google Translate do all the translating for me :) Your Lululemon top is exactly what I need right now for the summer, I should draft one like yours.
